Maritime Programs and Scholarships in the Philippines

Nowadays, taking a maritime course, either BS Marine Transportation (Deck) or BS Marine Engineering (Engine), has been one of the most common choice among young Filipinos. Because of the high and tax-exempted salary, many senior high school students try to pursue maritime education with the dreams of saving their family from poverty.

However, according to the recent CHED-MARINA monitoring for 2018, out of over 82,000 enrolees in S.Y. 2018, only 14,690 will be able to complete their academic requirements and only 2,256 will eventually be able to go on a ship for on-board training and be able to obtain a degree in the maritime field. Adding to that, according to the data gathered by The Manila Times, Filipino seafarers’ employment decreased by more than 100,000 in 2018.

That’s why, if you are a senior high school student who wishes to succeed in the maritime field, these are the maritime programs and scholarships available in the country which will help you secure a good maritime career in the future.
